Exchange Students
Where to live during your time at Aberystwyth University will be one of your earliest concerns when planning your exchange visit. Aberystwyth University operates an Accommodation Service to help students find somewhere to live. At Aberystwyth approximately 35% of our students live in University Residences. The remainder of our students live in houses, flats (apartments) or bedsitting rooms in private sector accommodation in the town of Aberystwyth, which is within easy walking distance of the main campus and with a regular bus link.
Aberystwyth is a small tourist town of around 14,000 inhabitants and because of the large number of new students who arrive in September each year we cannot always offer accommodation in Residences to all visiting European exchange students. It will therefore be necessary for some visiting European exchange students to live in private sector accommodation.

To assist you in seeking alternative accommodation, the Accommodation Office has created a Facebook page which will enable you, and other students to discuss your accommodation needs. We will also use the page to provide regular updates on the status of the accommodation available, share news of availability within the private sector and encourage students with spare rooms in shared houses to post availability on the page: http://www.facebook.com/AberUni.AccommodationOffice
Private Sector Database
The Accommodation Office maintains an online private sector database which is available from our website: http://www.aber.ac.uk/en/accommodation/private-sector.
The database includes a search facility for students to look for various types of private accommodation. There are also a range of information leaflets, available for download, from the website including our Top Ten Tips to Looking for Private Accommodation.

Please note that we cannot confirm whether or not we can offer accommodation in Residences to Exchange students until early September (or early December in the case of Semester 2 students) when we have a clear indication of the level of our intake of students.
You will receive information on how to apply for accommodation once you have been accepted by Aberystwyth University and have activated your Aber e-mail account (from 1st July onwards).
