About us
The Centre for Educational Studies (Canolfan Astudiaethau Addysg / CAA) is an educational publishing agency which is part of Aberystwyth University. CAA is one of the largest educational publishers in Wales, and an average of 50 titles are published every year by the agency.
CAA produces materials of a high standard in a wide range of subjects for every Key Stage: primary education, secondary education and post-16 and Higher. The agency has considerable experience of producing materials of good quality for the Welsh Government's Education and Skills Department.
It specialises in the production of resources to enhance the development of Welsh as a second language and to encourage so-called 'reluctant readers'. Since it is part of the School of Education and Lifelong Learning, Aberystwyth University, CAA is able to remain at the forefront of developments in education and to access the expertise and subject specialisations within the School.
In the past, CAA have won the Basic Skills Agency Book Award for primary literacy in Welsh for Cyfres Clic, a series designed as a reading scheme for pupils in Key Stages 2 and 3. One of the Centre's publications, 'The Battle of Mametz Wood 1916', was also awarded the Tir na n-Og prize for the best English language publication.
CAA offers:
- A complete, competitive and professional publishing service in Welsh and English
- Development of resources across a wide range of subjects and age groups
- Variety of media from books and brochures to activity packs and CD-ROMs
