The Bar Kicks Back 2010
Aberystwyth University’s very first The Bar Kicks Back reunion weekend in Aber on 20th to 22nd August was a great success, with alumni of all ages returning to meet up with old friends and make new ones. Treasures from the Powell Collection, the Plas botanical gardens, campus, Students’ Union and award-winning catering facilities were all on show; and the beach, Prom and Consti also had their fair share of attention. Poetry was read, sunsets watched, beer drunk, dances danced, bar kicked, reminiscences shared and friends made.
The Bar Kicks Back 2011 will be held on the weekend of 2nd to 4th September, so make a note in your diary to be part of the fun!

There was brilliant Aber sunshine for the marine biology and geology exploration of the beach, and yes, there really is a sound scientific reason for Bill putting that bit of stone in his mouth… but you had to be there.

Rosie and Sarah from Aber’s Marketing Team conducted a walking tour of the campus for BKB guests under giant yellow Aber umbrellas – one of the few occasions when it actually rained.
Aber’s eminent botanist, Dr John Warren, giving insights into some of the fascinating history of the plants to be found in the Plas gardens; definitely not one to be missed next year.
