At the 2013 Student Led Teaching Awards, Dr Martyn Powell, Head of Department, History and Welsh History, received a ‘Highly Commended’ award in the Innovative Teaching category.
2014 will mark the tercentenary of the birth of George Whitefield (1714-70), the eighteenth-century’s best known and most widely travelled evangelical revivalist. For a time in the middle decades of the eighteenth century, Whitefield was the most famous person in the Atlantic World.
The ELEVENTH ANGLO-AMERICAN SEMINAR ON THE MEDIEVAL ECONOMY AND SOCIETY will be held on 5-8 JULY 2013 at the Swan Hotel in Wells. Convened by Professor Phillipp Schofield, this year's seminar will be in honour of its founder, Professor Bruce Campbell (The Queen's University Belfast).

Prof Björn Weiler and Prof Piotr Górecki (University of California Riverside) will convene a conference on ‘The Practice of rulership, c. 950 – c. 1250’ at the Huntington Library in Pasadena/California on 17 and 18 May 2013.
