Human Resources Strategic Plan

Aberystwyth University recognises the key role of its staff in delivering the strategic aims and aspirations set out in the University’s mission statement and strategic plan.  The Human Resource Strategic Plan is designed to support the University’s overall strategy, the objective being to create an environment in which all staff can achieve their potential in order to deliver excellent teaching and research and provide effective and efficient services to support the core business.

The strategy was informed by research commissioned by the Universities Personnel Association (UPA) and undertaken by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) which resulted in the publication ‘Leading HR for high performance in higher education’ published in June 2008.

The Strategic Plan identifies five priority areas or strategic objectives and is underpinned by the HR Action Plan which identifies the operational requirements to achieve the Plan.

The five strategic objectives are;

• to deliver an effective HR service through the Business Partner Model

• to enhance performance of staff

• to strengthen equality and diversity

• to attract, develop and retain talent

• to build organisational capability
