Visit by Henan University of Technology on 10th August 2011On Wednesday 10th August, Vice President Li and Director Liu of Henan University of Technology (HAUT) visited Aberystwyth with a view to looking at potential areas of cooperation involving several of our academic departments. This visit followed on from an earlier June visit in which Professor Aled Jones, our Pro Vice Chancellor with responsibility for International development, visited HAUT.
After a brief tour of our Penglais campus, our guests had a meeting Chaired by PVC, Professor Aled Jones involving senior members of staff from IBERS, IGES, the School of Management and Business, the International English Centre, Theatre, Film and TV, and the International Office.
During the meeting Vice Chancellor Li was interested to hear about our involvement in Food security, which is being headed by IBERS. HAUT are also involved in this field, focusing on Food Science and Safety, relating to Cereal Science & Technology and Grain distribution in particular.
After the meeting, Vice Chancellor Li and our Vice Chancellor Professor April McMahon signed a Memorandum of Understanding, to begin the process of working closely together in areas related to the above disciplines in the future.
After the signing ceremony, our guests were treated to a finger buffet in the Theatre, Film and TV building which offers a superb and unobstructed view across Aberystwyth and Cardigan Bay.
