About our Staff

Rachel Tod - Director, International Office at Aberystwyth University.  Rachel has worked for Aberystwyth University since 2005 when she first arrived in the UK. Originally from New Zealand, Rachel was raised in Australia moving back to New Zealand to complete her BCom (Marketing Management) at Otago University.  Rachel’s career in the Higher Education sector began in 1997 and she has since represented universities in New Zealand, Australia and now Wales.

Susan Jenkins, PA to Rachel Tod and International Administrator, has worked for the University since 1990 and is the first point of contact for all external bodies and departments within the University.  Susan brings a wealth of experience to the IRC in her dealings with international work; alumni relations; PR and the Study Abroad Office.

Ruth Owen, International Officer - Prior to this Ruth was Job Link Manager at the University’s Careers Service. Ruth graduated from Coventry University with a degree in Equine Studies and Business Management and has just completed a postgraduate certificate in Management and Marketing here at Aberystwyth. 

Chris Neville, International Officer - Chris graduated with a degree in Marketing from Bradford University in 2004.  During his time at Bradford he was student representative, with particular responsibility for ensuring the welfare of international students.  After graduation, he moved to China to work with the British Council as a language assistant for 1 year.  Over the past 5 years, Chris has worked in education marketing and recruitment in Shanghai, China.

Murtza Ali Ghaznavi - Middle East Manager, is responsible for promoting collaboration and recruitment primarily in the Middle East Region as well as the CIS and Africa.  Born and raised in Dubai, UAE he attained his LLB and MBA in the UK and has subsequently represented higher education institutions in his home region as well as acted as a market entry specialist for various private sector clients in both the Middle East and the CIS regions.

Nia Jones - International Student Adviser in Student Support Services, collaborating with the International Recruitment and Collaboration Team.  Prior to this, Nia was a HR manager at Aberystwyth University.  She graduated from Coleg Normal, Bangor with a degree in Social Administration, completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Human Resource Management in 2007, and is currently studying towards an MBA here at Aber.

Iona Hopkins is our Student Exchanges, Study Abroad and Partnerships Officer.  Her work focuses on the Erasmus and the North American Exchange Programme, our Study Abroad (SYA/JYA) programme for visiting students, and assisting with co-ordination of our International Partnerships.  Iona  graduated from Bangor University with an MA in European Studies.  She also completed her undergraduate degree in History and French at Bangor where she spent a year abroad as a language assistant in the North of France.

Sandra Morgan works with Iona Hopkins providing administrative support for the Student Exchange and SYA programmes.
