About the SYA/JYA Programme
The SYA/JYA programmes are available for incoming students (i.e. non Aberystwyth University students). Aberystwyth students wishing to be involved in a SYA/JYA programme should apply to other Universities through the Study Abroad Office of the other University.
Many students choose to study at Aberystwyth University through our Study Year Abroad/Joint Year Abroad Scheme. Our programmes are designed for international students who wish to study at Aberystwyth for one academic semester or one academic year of two semesters. Grades and qualifications gained at Aberystwyth can be transferred to the student’s home university.
Aberystwyth University welcomes applications from international students who are currently studying at a University or Higher Education institution overseas and who wish to experience life at a top-ranking British University and gain an understanding of British and Welsh cultures.
As a truly international University, Aberystwyth’s modules can be converted into ECTS credits under the European Credit Transfer System. Aberystwyth credits can also be converted into credits familiar with systems used in countries such as the United States and Canada.
When you submit an application, you will be given advice as to the most appropriate programme of study which we can offer you, based on what you have studied at your overseas institution and the courses and subjects you are interested in studying at Aberystwyth. You will be required to complete a learning agreement which would need to be approved by your home institution if you are applying through an institution with whom we have a Memorandum of Understanding
