How to apply to Study Year Abroad/Junior Year Abroad
If you wish to apply for the SYA programme, you will need to send us a completed SYA application form, together with formal transcripts showing what you have studied, a letter of recommendation and a 200 word essay saying why you wish to study abroad at Aberystwyth University.
If English is not your first language and you need to improve your language competency, you will begin by developing your English language skills in intensive mode at our International English Centre. After that, you will have the opportunity to study modules from a wide choice of subjects.
The basic entry requirements are:
- A minimum of one year’s study at a university or college.
- A minimum level of English of IELTS 6.0 /TOEFL 80 iBT (or equivalent) if you are a non-native English speaker. Please note that many courses require non-native English speakers tohave a higher level of English level proficiency, typically ranging from IELTS 6.5 to 7.0 (TOEFL 90 to 100 iBT). However, if your level of English is between IELTS 5.0 or TOEFL 61iBT, we can offer you an initial intensive English programme to bring your English level up to the standard required to follow our regular academic courses or modules.
