Ms Birrer was awarded her MA in French in 2005 from the University of Zurich, Switzerland. The title of her MA thesis is « Identification de rédacteurs sur la base de critères linguistiques: interrogation de 290 chartes de Meurthe-et-Moselle (1232-1265) à l’aide du langage XQuery»
She is currently working on her doctoral dissertation, an edition of the 13th century anglo-norman dreambook Songes selon Daniel (Berlin, Staatsbibliothek, ms. lat. quart. 70, a translation of the Achmetis Oneirocriticon), also providing a comparative corpus with the manuscripts Paris, BNF, fr. 1317 and fr. 24432.
Contributor of reviews to the Revue critique de philologie romane and writing for animaliter, project for an interdisciplinary encyclopedia on animals in literature.
Member of the Collegium Romanicum in Switzerland and of the International Reynardian Society.
